The idea behind the film was to relive the story of Ted Bundy in an episodic series of one-hour films.
Plot: The film opens in the present day (mid-1990s) with the film's protagonist, a young man, trying to recover from a car crash. As he sits in a hospital, he suddenly begins to remember a series of events that took place in the past - events that had occurred at the same time, and in the same place, as the actual Ted Bundy murders.
While some events in the film have been reconstructed in the narrative, they are also built upon certain facts about the real-life Ted Bundy. In the first film, Ted's father was murdered in a car accident in 1975.

According to the former writer, Joshiy, he had always planned for each episode of the film to be self-contained. He had also planned for a sequel to the series at some stage in the future, and had hoped to make the film into a trilogy of sorts. However, in an interview, Joshiy stated that the film's ending had changed considerably since he first conceived of the film.
The first two episodes of the film were not well-received. Both were screened at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival, and did not win any awards. Joshiy was also unable to sell the film at the Berlin Film Festival.
Principal photography for Episode 3 of the series (the final episode) was expected to begin in October 2007. However, the start of principal photography was repeatedly delayed, and was finally not commenced until July 2008, after production for the first two episodes had already been completed.
